Unlike a traditional alarm, the system does not rely on a visible keypad or an additional remote control. Before the vehicle can be driven, the authorised user must enter a personalised sequence using selected factory buttons already located inside the vehicle. This can include compatible buttons on the steering wheel, dashboard, centre console or door controls.

Without the correct sequence, the vehicle remains immobilised. This provides an additional layer of protection against key cloning, key theft, relay attacks and other common methods used to steal modern vehicles.

Because the system is installed discreetly and has no obvious external indicators, its location and operation are difficult for an unauthorised person to identify. The original Autowatch Ghost 2 is described by its manufacturer as a covert CAN-bus immobiliser that uses the vehicle’s existing controls rather than a separate fob or visible LED.
